Girone 1

Promotion and relegation

Six territorial groups of ten teams play nine opponents twice, once at home and once away. Each group has 18 rounds and 90 matches. The original August fixture PDF includes a 10-team Girone 6, updating the July preliminary nine-team list.

Group winner

The first-place club in each of the six groups earns promotion to Serie A Maschile 2027/28.

Last-place team

The lowest-ranked club in each group is relegated to Serie C 2027/28.

No promotion playoff

Promotion is decided by each group table, not by a separate nationwide playoff.

Important Girone 2 update

FIR confirmed on 7 September 2026 that Mantova Rugby replaces Rugby Rovato. The August calendar PDF still shows Rovato; RugbyOrbit substitutes Mantova in those fixtures, with dates and pairings subject to official confirmation. FIR ↗

When does Serie B start?

Round 1 is scheduled for 18 October 2026. Round 18 is listed for 16 May 2027.

How many teams are in Serie B?

The published August schedule lists six groups of ten clubs, for 60 participating teams. The July provisional list was updated.

How does promotion work?

The top club in each territorial group advances to Serie A Maschile for 2027/28.

Why are there no points in the standings?

Before verified matches have been completed, any ranking or points total would be misleading. Clubs are alphabetical until official results can be added.

Has the Girone 2 calendar changed?

Yes. Mantova Rugby was reinstated in Serie B in September 2026 to replace Rugby Rovato. Individual fixtures should be checked against subsequent FIR announcements.
