How National League 1 works
National League 1 is the third tier of English men’s club rugby union. Fourteen clubs play 26 home-and-away rounds, each meeting every opponent twice. Wins earn four league points, with separate try-scoring and losing bonuses.
National One had an automatic champion-promotion route, a second/third-place accession play-off, three automatic relegations and an 11th-place survival play-off in 2025/26. Those were the rules for the previous season; 2026/27 promotion and relegation conditions must be confirmed by National League Rugby/RFU. The colours below are provisional risk indicators, not guaranteed qualifications.
Season context
Plymouth Albion and Tonbridge Juddians remain unbeaten after six rounds, both on 30 points. Plymouth’s points difference is significantly higher. Newly promoted Camborne are third on 25 points. Cambridge are looking for their first victory.
