How the leagues fit together
The men’s domestic ladder starts with Serie A Elite. Its last-placed club drops to Serie A, whose promotion-final winner advances to the top flight for the following season. Serie B sits below Serie A and operates in six geographically organised pools. The women’s Serie A Elite and Serie A follow a separate championship pathway. Benetton and Zebre Parma compete in the cross-border URC rather than Italy’s domestic Serie A Elite.
Serie C Maschile follows Serie B in the men’s pathway, but it is managed regionally by FIR territorial committees. Group composition and phases can differ between regions; the dedicated Serie C hub will therefore offer a region and group selector rather than a single national standings table.
Useful questions
Is URC part of Italy’s Serie A Elite?
No. Benetton Rugby and Zebre Parma take part in the international club URC, while Serie A Elite is a separate Italian championship.
How does promotion from Serie B work in 2026/27?
The FIR specifies six territorial pools. The first-placed team in each pool earns promotion to Serie A for 2027/28, subject to applicable regulations.

How is Serie C Maschile organised in 2026/27?
Regional FIR committees manage separate schedules and group formats. Piemonte has two initial groups of six teams, while the first Campania-managed group contains six clubs drawn from Campania, Molise and Calabria.
