How Division 1A works

Ten men’s clubs compete in Division 1A of the Energia All-Ireland League. Clubs face the other nine home and away: 18 games per club, five matches each round and 90 regular-season matches in total. Wins award four league points, draws two, with try and narrow-loss bonus points available.

The established format sends the top four into the championship semi-finals (first versus fourth and second versus third). The team finishing last is relegated, while ninth enters a promotion/relegation play-off pathway involving Division 1B contenders. The IRFU’s applicable season regulations control the final process.

The season so far

After three rounds, Clontarf lead with 12 points and 130 points scored. Old Belvedere and Terenure College have 11 points each. UCD sit fourth on 10 points despite a negative points difference. Defending 2025/26 champions St. Mary’s College have nine points after three matches.

Sources and verification

The current standings, fixture schedule and fifteen completed scores were cross-checked against the 2026/27 Final Whistle Division 1A archive, club match records and the IRFU competition hub. We recalculated each club’s match outcomes and points scored/conceded from those fifteen results. This page is editorial, independent and manually maintained, not a live scoreboard.
