How the 2026/27 Japan Rugby League One season works

The old conference system has been discontinued. All 12 teams share one Division 1 table, playing seven opponents twice and four opponents once. Each team plays 18 games, giving 108 regular-season fixtures in 18 rounds. Teams start at zero points and no standings position can be assumed before the season begins.

The top six at the end of the regular season advance to the play-off tournament, with first and second entering directly in the semi-finals. The final is scheduled for 6 June 2027. Division 2 (eight clubs) and Division 3 (seven) are separate competitions and do not contribute scores to this page.

2026/27 season preview

Defending champions Kobelco Kobe Steelers begin at home against Toyota Verblitz at Noevir Stadium Kobe on 12 December. Another opening-round meeting features Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath against BlackRams Tokyo. The format has changed, so prior-season conference standings are not being carried into this new table.

All 108 regular-season pairings are transcribed from the Japan Rugby League One official 2026–27 Division 1 schedule, revised in October. The 18-round structure was checked for six matches per round, 18 matches and nine home games per club. Kick-off times are shown only where confirmed. The table is intentionally unranked before Round 1. Independent, manually maintained coverage; not live.
